Well-Written Words

What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.  -Helen Keller

I love good reads…not just a dime a dozen books, but you know…the ones that come along once in a generation or once in any generation.

Here’s my list of some of the best books I’ve ever read.  They cover a multitude of genres. They can change your life if you’ll treasure the craft of the writer.  The list will change from time to time, and I will always put what my current reads are.

Currently Reading:

Hosea (Bible Study) by Jennifer Rothschild

The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown.  One of the best books I have ever read.  In storyteller form, the author recounts the US victory in rowing at the 1936 Olympics in Germany.  But this is not a rowing story.  It’s the story of how each person was created for significance in ways that they may never know.

The One Year Bible (I recommend the English Standard Version for accuracy)
You can purchase it here:  ESV One Year Bible for purchase

Persuasion by Jane Austen (one of her best, in my  humble opinion :) )

Jonathan Edwards : A Life by George M. Marsden

The Psalms, The Apostles and The Christ (Bible Study)

Some of the Best Books I’ve Ever Read:

Quo Vadis (Fiction) by Henryk Sienkiewicz

A Lantern in Her Hand (Fiction) by Bess Streeter Aldrich

Christy (Fiction) by Catherine Marshall

Team of Rivals (Non-fiction) by Doris Kearns Goodwin

Bonhoffer : Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy (Biography) by Eric Metaxas

The Cost of Discipleship (Non-fiction) by Dietrich Bonhoffer

One Thousand Gifts (Non-fiction) by Ann Voskamp

Anne of Green Gables (Fiction) by Lucy Maud Montgomery

The Snows of Kilimanjaro (Fiction) by Ernest Hemingway

The North Face of God (Non-fiction) by Ken Gire
